Design & Analysis
Our mold engineers utilize advanced design tools and software—such as CAD, CAE, and CAM—to complete the entire process from product concept to mold design with accuracy and efficiency. To initiate a plastic injection mold project, customers are required to provide product information in one of the following formats: physical sample, 2D drawing, or 3D model.
Product modeling
◆ 3D scanning and modeling: If the customer provides a physical sample, we will perform 3D scanning, generate point cloud data, and build an accurate 3D model.
◆ 2D to 3D: If the customer provides a 2D drawing, the engineer will create a 3D model based on the drawing.
3D model technology optimization
◆ Parting line design: Determine the parting line of the mold on the original 3D model and consider the position of the movable insert.
◆ Injection slope adjustment: Optimize the demoulding angle according to the mold structure to avoid mold jamming or surface damage of the finished product.
◆ Material shrinkage compensation: According to the shrinkage coefficient of the plastic material, all dimensions are adjusted accordingly to ensure the accuracy of the final product size.
Optimizing Mold Performance
During the mold design phase, Gangnam-Mould applies CAE simulation to optimize critical parameters and ensure the mold performs efficiently and reliably. Key aspects include:
1.Wall Thickness Analysis
Ensures uniform and appropriate wall thickness to prevent defects such as shrink marks and warping.
2.Gate and Injection Point Design
Identifies optimal gate locations to improve material flow, enhance filling, and reduce flash.
3.Cooling System Optimization
Simulates cooling performance to refine channel design and boost production efficiency.
4.Air Trap Analysis
Detects potential air entrapment zones and optimizes venting to ensure smooth mold filling.
5.Flow Simulation
Analyzes plastic flow behavior to refine runner and cavity design, improving final product quality.
Mould design confirmation
The 3D mold design will be sent to the customer for confirmation.
2D mold drawings in DWG format can be provided upon request.
